Memories of War

The Memories of War Photography Exhibition and Listening Stations are based on an undergraduate research seminar entitled, “Memories of War” taught by Dr. Ji-Yeon Yuh in the Department of History at Northwestern University and curated by Patricia Nguyen with artistic collaborations with photographer, Ethan Caldwell, and designer, John Lee.

Students in the class conducted a full oral history interview with a Vietnamese refugee, Korean immigrant, or second generation Korean American or Vietnamese American in the Chicago area, and then produced a narrator profile along with a podcast from the research. Seven selected interviews are featured in the photography exhibition and accompanied by a podcast of the interview in the listening stations.

The Memories of War Photography Exhibition & Listening Stations will be digitally archived here on this page and exhibited during May and June 2017 at Axis Lab’s public art storefront gallery located at 1117-1119 West Argyle Street off the Argyle CTA Red Line Station.
